CityNorth in North Phoenix Prepares to Debut!

Publish On 09-01-2008 , 6:15 PM

I first wrote about the CityNorth development back in April of 2007 when the 269 acre parcel of state-owned land at 56th Street and Deer Valley was purchased (see North Phoenix Land Purchase at www.homeisarizona.com). Since then I have watched with anticipation as construction began and future retailers signed on for the mixed-development community just east of the hugely popular Desert Ridge area. (www.citynorthaz.com).

Recently it was announced that the grand opening of CityCenter of CityNorth is scheduled for November 13, 1008, and a block party will be held to welcome the public.

Phoenix Vice Mayor Peggy Neely is quoted in the following statement: “CityCenter of CityNorth will be a dynamic urban core for the Northeast valley, and is an model for the City’s mission to encourage sustainable growth and development”. CityNorth will define urban living upon completion, with an impressive mixture of residential, office and medical suites, retail boutiques, and several new-to-market restaurants!

In addition to boutique shopping, CityNorth will feature a Bloomingdale’s (the first to Arizona), a Nordstrom, and a Macy’s. Exciting, but equally as frightening to know that I will have that kind of a shopping bonanza practically right in my backyard, not to mention the restaurants and bars

Phoenix and the Monsoon Season

Publish On 08-04-2008 , 8:24 AM

As I sit here typing on my computer, the sky is darkening to the east.  The cicada's are droning away outside in the July heat, and I am hopeful of an impending downpour.  It's monsoon season in Arizona.

Phoenix Monsoon Season

I love monsoon season despite the potentially damaging storms that can occur.  I suppose it's because our weather here in the desert is usually so constant.....and sunny!  The monsoon season typically begins in July and lasts well into September.  Meteorologists also measure the beginning of the monsoon season as 3 consecutive days of the dew point being 55 degrees or higher. The name "monsoon" comes from the Arabic word "mausim" which means "season" or "wind shift".  This wind shift pulls moisture up from the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean and delivers much needed rain to the southern portion of Arizona.  Dust storms and brilliant displays of lightening are also typical of our monsoon season.  A good monsoon storm has been known to toss my patio furniture into the pool, and one year uprooted a fig tree in my backyard (I hated that tree!).  It can also bring about a drop in our summer temperatures, if only for a day or two.

The end of the monsoon season typically signals the end of our summer here in Arizona.  Shortly thereafter the temperatures begin to drop, ushering in the beautiful fall/winter weather that we relish here in the Phoenix area!

Aderra Condominiums

Aderra Condominiums are located just south of Cactus on Tatum Boulevard in North Phoenix.  I love this complex!  The location is great and the property itself is beautiful.  The complex is three levels with elevator access, and the units themselves range from 811 square feet to 1284 square feet.  Aderra is situated on the Stone Creek Golf Course and if you're willing to pay extra, the views are fantastic.  Aderra is gated and quiet, and the pool area has a true resort-like feel!

The homeowner's association dues are $220 and there is a fitness center on site.  Underground parking is provided.  Interested in more information regarding Aderra Condominiums, or other condominium complexes here in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area?  Email me at karen@homeisarizona.com.  I'll be happy to help!
